Homework 1st August

Room 21 News
1st August

The children have been given a survey for you to fill in to give us an indication of your feelings towards the planned camp at Living Springs, they have been asked to have it returned immediately so a definite decision can be made about this camp.

It was nice to welcome everyone back after a rather wintery break, our day began with a powhiri where we welcomed all the new children and families into our school. We role played the ways in which we should welcome our friends into our homes, maybe you could ask the children to practice this at home.

We will commence the term with a maths unit on TIME. Please try and encourage the children to read the time, add to the time…what will the time be in one hour, 30 minutes etc

Our writing will be about Fairy Tales so the children will need to bring books with Fairy Tales to school, if possible it would be great for them to get Fairy Tale books from the library and read some of these stories recreationally.

Photocopying paper. We as a school are trying especially hard to reduce the amount of paper/photocopying, the class will work towards establishing systems that help Room 21 reduce their photocopying by 50%. Homework newsletters will continue to be posted on our blog rather than photocopied.
We would appreciate any A4 scrap paper that you may have to use for rough copy and note taking work.

Interviews
Remember to book these on lines, it would be great to be able to see you all and discuss progress and further direction. These can be booked on line or at the school office.

HOMEWORK

Mesmerize this MONTH poem.

Thirty days has September
April ,June and November
All the rest have thirty one
Except February alone
Which has twenty eight days clear
Twenty nine each leap year.

Maths                        Time

Read the time from the ‘round clock’ using minutes after and before.
ie 25 minutes past 7  or twenty minutes to nine.

Record the important times on drawn clockfaces in your homework book, ie tea times, bedtimes etc.

Reading.
Prepare to share a Fairy Tale with the class...the simplest way is to bring a book and share the story but you might remember the tale and tell it to the class.

Keep a reading log of your nightly reading, remember to try and include the reading of Fairy tales.

Monday 4th July

I thought the Truckload of Art was pretty awesome because the art had lots of colours and stories to tell.
I got a free pencil with the Roadshow on it.I wish I had bought money because then I would have got a sketchbook. By Kai
  • The clothed shark was described by Paul as, 'a shark in sheep's clothing.'
  • The picture behind Paul andAshleigh is the artwork that Kai would most like to have hanging in his bedroom.
