Headlice Once again we have parents reporting to us that children in Room 21 have headlice, please check your child’s hair. All children with longer hair need to have it tied back.

Notices were sent home for camp, can these be returned ASAP as we wish to finalise numbers and confirm parent helpers.
Our suggestion for fundraising will hopefully give children an opportunity to be involved in earning money for camp from your family and friends and help spread the burden of cost.

Our Kitchen Science topic has been lots of fun, hopefully our budding scientists have demonstrated some of the experiments at home.
This week we begin an interchange between Y4 classes with even more science experiments.
(If you would like to help with a Kitchen Science/ baking group between 10.30 and 11.30 then please be in touch.)

On Sunday it was Mothers day , Tori and I cooked breakfast for Mummy, we made mum toast and cereal and gave her a choc.
On Sunday morning we all got up for church, it was fun. On Sunday night at 6:01pm we went to Carrie’s and Deon’s for Mother’s day tea. All of us had Fish & Chip’s. I got a cheese burger. We went to Deon’s to fix dad’s 4 wheel drive, before tea they were still working on it. At 7:50pm Mum, Tori, Samantha and I went home. I turned on the electrical blanket, I was so happy because it was warm.
We read a book for Samantha and I then we went fast asleep. And that is how my Mother’s day went.

Room 21 Newsletter Monday 21st May

It was great to welcome everyone back this morning. The children all seemed to have enjoyed their break and were mostly excited to be back at school. Our day began with a Powhiri to welcome new families to the school and a sharing of our holiday news.

This term we will be having a maths interchange every morning from 9.15 until 10.15. The children will be working with children of a similar ability so that they will be challenged at their own strategy stage.

Every Tuesday afternoon from 1.30pm until 2.15pm we will have a winter sport session with the children and teachers from Y3 and Y4. All children will experience a range of sports from soccer and netball through to dance. These sessions will be skills based with a minor game taught as a practice. (We would welcome any parental assistance at these sessions).

Unfortunately our Aquagym sessions have had to be postponed again, we are hopeful that we can our swimming lessons can be arranged for later this term or early next term.

The Goal setting sheets were sent home last term, please keep these in a prominent place at home to record achievements. We will share these achievements at school and also keep a record of the children’s successes.

Homework
Maths Every Monday we will have a new table introduced, the children will need to demonstrate this table to you on Monday evening and relearn it every evening. Every Friday we will have our table of the week tested.
This week we are learning, relearning the x2.

Reading Every week the children will have to rule up a reading table and enter the details of their reading. The Goal is to read for approx 30 minutes each evening.

Spelling Beginning next week the children will have a weekly set of words to learn, these will be issued on Monday and tested the following Monday.

News This term we are beginning two formal news days, on Wednesdays the children will have a chance to share person news (they must have an item to share and show that is of no $ value) and on Thursday they are expected to have a good news item sourced from the newspaper or television.
For example they might bring a leaf, insect, photograph or some interesting item that they can speak knowledgeably about on Wednesday. On Thursday they might have a cutting from the Star or Press newspaper that they have studied and become an expert about.
